Kathmandu valley is known as the city of temple. Valley contains three districts Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur (Patan). Here are many historical, cultural and religious places to enjoy. You will find small or large temples in every 100 meters. Beside temples, many ancient stupas are also located in Kathmandu valley. Among many of them, some sites are listed in UNESCO world heritage site. So it is very worthwhile to do at least a day tour at some highlighted sites with local guide.
Four sites you will visit on this tour:
Swoyambhunath (Swoyambhu, Monkey Temple): Its literal meaning is self-originated. It is about 5 km far west from tourist city Thamel. Swoyambhu is also known as Money Temple as numerous monkeys habitat is there. It is a Buddhist stupa listed In USESCO world heritage site. Nice 360 degree view of Kathmandu valley can be seen from the top of clear day.
Patan Durbar Square: It is an ancient royal palace where the Malla Kings of Lalitpur resided. There are many temples and idols within the durbar square.
Bouddhanath: This stupa is one of the ancient stupa which is on the ancient trade route to Kathmandu from Tibet.
Pashupathinath (temple of lord Shiva): It is one of the historical and religious temple of hindu follower. You can also see the traditional Nepali funeral ceremony.
Pick up from hotel/ place (within Kathmandu valley) at about 9 am. Greet by our tour guide and driver. A short brief about the tour and then start the tour from Swoyambhunath. After Swoyambhunath, you will be taken to Patan Durbar Square and then Bouddhanath Stupa. Usually, visitors will take lunch here at local/tourist restaurants. At last, visit Pashupatinath temple and finally dropped at your own place/hotel.
